Thoughts on the W520 HD+?

2011-05-28, 16:36 PM

I am pretty sure that I will get a W520 with the HD+ 1600x900 display. Does anyone have any thoughts on this screen?

well the screen is okay, the FHD is much better with better gamut.

What are you going to use the laptop for? i.e. photoshop work or CAD work?

I will mainly be using it for programming, minor gaming, and word processing. I will be doing a bit of CAD, but I tried out an FHD display and found that the text was uncomfortable to read. I have considered doing DPI scaling, but some of my programs do not DPI-scale correctly for some reason.

Is there any difference between the two displays other than the pixel density and the gamut?

Do you think that the HD+ would be sufficient for my purposes?

since you are not doing any photographic touchups, etc, the HD+ is more than sufficient for your work at hand.

Thanks. If I do do any photographic touchups, they will probably be minor, and I will probably do them when connected to an external monitor. Thanks so much for your help. Kudos to you!

No problem, i was going to suggest that if you need to do a lot of photographic work you can always get a good quality external S-IPS or H-IPS LCD. This way you can get the best of the both world.
