Assuming that Levovo still hasn't got a ultrabasy specifically designed for the w520, which is a shame...
See, there are plenty of caddies on eBay, like:
1. NEW SATA hard drive Bay LENOVO Thinkpad T520 W520 DV16 | eBay from ny-compu-tek
2. 2nd hard drive Caddy F Lenovo Thinkpad T420 W520 T520 | eBay from xijiaokeji
3. eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace from partslot-aus and
4. 2nd HDD hard drive Caddy F Lenovo Thinkpad T420 W520 | eBay from uq511
And then there are more expensive ones at $47 like the one from NewmodeUS: 2nd HDD or SSD Caddy - Lenovo ThinkPad W520, W510, T510 [TP-W510-T510] - $46.75 : NewmodeUS, Hard Dr...
Question is which one would you recommend. I'm looking for one that not only lives up to the full SATA III potential, but also something that fits well and matches W520's external color and texture too.

I bought the first one you listed off of e-bay. The adaptor seems rock solid so far. The hard drive I put it in are giving me some problems though!
You can see this thread about the problem in W Series I put a Crucial C300 in it and I am occasionally get some stuttering. But I can't imagine this has anything to do with the adaptor, and I believe the smart people here have already provided me with a solution. I am just waiting one more day before I marked it "solved"

I bought one from ebay, and no HD will fit in it,
Basically, the HD wont slide over the SATA connectors as they are at a very slight angle.
I sent the seller a complaint that neither the original HD nor a new HD will fit in the caddy, but they did not reply.
When put in the W520, there is a gap.

This one works properly. Too much discussion for such a small cost item.

If you are in Europe, the shipping is almost as much as the product. Then if there is a problem, and you have to ship it back. Anyone know of a european distributor for a decent caddy?

I have the newmodus caddy too. Rock solid, fits nicely, no issues at all. I highly recommend that Lenovo goes and buys that design since their existing engineers can't come up with a caddy given a year and a half.
