Update for Intel graphics driver on P50

2017-03-07, 18:55 PM

The newest graphics drivers for the Thinkpad P50 contain Intel driver version 21.20.16.4550 (the latest available from the Support site).

This version of the driver (as well as older versions) has a bug which causes Google Chrome to jitter when in full screen and moving the mouse around the page. (See http://crbug.com/672448 .)

Intel has released a version of the drivers (21.20.16.4590) which is reported to fix this problem.

I tried to install the updated driver from Intel, but the installer tells me that I can't because I need a driver version customized by Lenovo instead.

Is there some way around that to install the new Intel driver? Will it hurt in any way to do that? Is there some way to get Lenovo to release a new set of drivers with the updates from Intel?

Thanks!

Hi friend,

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

As I understand that you are looking for the updated Display drivers for your P50

Try updating it from Intel HD Graphics Driver 21.20.16.4590 it is from Lenovo.

If that doesn't work you can update it from here by uing zip file from Device Manager.

I hope the above information helped you.

Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

Cheers,

Prabhansh

The first option that you gave to download fails with a message about this computer not meeting the requirements.

However, a manual install via Device Manager from the ZIP file did work.

My problem is that 2 days ago I updated something through lenovo updates software and right after that my "p" button from my keyboard stop working. Whenver I press it doesn't works. I need to copy the letter "p" or I need to always open "online keyboard" to type the letter "p".

It giving me headache and I am sure this happens after I update. please let me know if any solution?

Thanks

Regards

Nabeel

Hello,

I have following configuration

  • lenovo p50 with 32gb ram
  • nvidia quadro m2000m
  • windows 10 fall creators update

Problem: Intel HD Graphics 530 is not working, I think all graphics operations running on 4gb graphic card. My other lenovo laptop with 8g ram and 2gb radeon graphic card is working better now.

I tried to install Thinkpad Video Features (nvidia n16s/quadro n16p) - 10[64] . Installation finishes without error, but when I restart the updater, it is shown again. I tried manuel installation but no luck. Driver not working. I also tried resetting my pc with fresh install.

Re: Update for Intel graphics driver on P50

I just purchased my P50 used on Ebay, and I've been having this black screen problem that so many people are seeing.  I tried to install the above driver via the .exe, and like a commenter above, I got the "your computer doesn't meet the requirements" message, which honestly doesn't surprise me, since it says right there it's for the P50s and not the P50, but I figured there was a chance.  When trying to update the driver via the Device Mangler, I was told "Windows says you already have the best driver."  So I uninstalled the device and checked the "delete files" box.  Upon rebooting sitting for a minute or so, Windows apparently went out and dug up a new driver for me without my prompting, which is version 23.20.16.4877 (much higher number than what is mentioned here).  We'll see if it fixes the problem I'm seeing... I'll update with my results.  My computer: P50 Xeon E3-1535M, Quadro M2000, 16GB ECC, Windows 10 Pro.

best of lucks. if I may, can i ask how much you paid for it? I am tracking down a P50 and would benefit to have a reference price.

Well, so far, so good!  I've brought it in and out of sleep without any issues.  I think I'm gonna consider this problem SOLVED.

Here's the one I got:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/4k-Lenovo-ThinkPad-P50-NVIDIA-Quadro-M2000M-Xeon-E3-1535M-v5-2-9Ghz-512gb-NVME/292414311323?hash=item4415404b9b:g:qzoAAOSw5nxaYQlU

Overall, a fair deal, not necessarily a SCREAMING deal, but I'm happy.  Getting used to the offset-from-center keyboard and the long key travel (vs. my old XPS 15 with "chiclet keys"), but I love it!

well, you got quite a powerful computer, I think top of the line of the 2016 model. and the great thing of the P50 over, say XPS 9550 is its upgrade-ability. so you can push it up to 64GB ram as your needs change.

funny thing, I have bought and sold items to swingcomputers in ebay, it is a small world indeed.
