Here are some common points of frequent discussion:

• How to get a system fast: Buy an in-stock standard configuration from Lenovo or a Lenovo Partner in your area. Customized systems take longer.
• Avoid Credit Holds - ensure that BOTH your bill to and ship to addresses are listed with your CC bank before ordering
• Lenovo will NOT bill your card until order ships - an authorization charge hold to check for available balance may show up when order is first placed.
• Estimated ship dates are based on default lead time and can vary from what was displayed on website.
• In the US and Canada, Lenovo utilizes UPS for new product shipments
• Orders may ship before the Estimated Ship Date
• Orders may enter through Alaska and pass through Louisville, KY before traveling on to final address
• Cancellation requests may take up to 2 days to process
• Requests to change configuration or other aspects of the order may require the order to be rebooked.
• Lenovo does not accept payment via international credit cards, except AMEX.

Thoughts on this? The delivery status says "In Transit: On Time" but you can clearly see that there is no indication of any "depature scan."

I think my laptop is sitting on the same pallet as yours.  Does this look familiar?

I have called UPS each day and get different misinformation each time.  First it was misloaded on a truck, then it was in transit to the destination, then it was held for customs.  The "Import Scan" sometime shows "In transit", then a few hours later goes back to "Import Scan".  All UPS will tell me is "keep checking the status".  Thanks, UPS.  Great customer service.

A new shipping thread is supposed to be started at the beginning of each new year.  It looks like this one was missed, so I made one for 2012.

For those of use not familiar with the inner workings of UPS, international shipments, customs, and Lenovo shipping practices, it gives us some insight and comfort that our laptop isn't just lost.  In addition, one can get an idea from others experiences as to when we might expect our new devices to arrive.

Mine made it here, arriving 9 days after it shipped from China, 16 days after Lenovo TOLD me it shipped from China, and 4 days after UPS told me I could expect it.  None of those numbers really offend me, but may be useful to someone else when trying to project when their device will actually make it to their door.

I am not saying there is no need.  I am questioning the value of the sticky taking up precious screen real estate.  You could still get the same information in a shipping forum then we wouldn't have stickies at the top of EVERY forum.

Oh well, I really don't expect the idea to be taken seriously.  None of my feedback on this new site, support area, downalods or anything else I submitted was.  It's nothing new.

Placed my W520 order on 4/23. Estimated ship date was (and is still listed as) 5/1. Since 5/1 has passed, called Lenovo CS... Gave an odd answer: "Estimated delivery date means that it can ship anytime that week..." From reading other posts, I fear this is the start of a series of shipping date postponements.

Did some searching and it sounds like other are experiencing looooong W520 shipping delays. Anyone care to venture a guess? Anyone else experiencing W-series shipping delays? 

For being the 2nd largest PC manufacturer (by market share) I expected better order management....

same deal here,  ordered w520 on 4/22

i called and emailed them to make sure it will ship on 5/1 (which by itself is quite slow already) 9 days to ship, Dell really does take a lot less time.

now it's 5/3.  I got an email saying it could be within 30 days of 5/1 to ship.

not very happy about this...
