W500: XP problems after disk upgrade-cloning hdd.

[ Edited ]

I'm trying to upgrade the HDD in my new W500 from 160Gb to the 320Gb drive.

I've copied the disk using Norton Ghost's disk copy utility and the Lenovo Hard Drive Bay Adapter II, including the disk MBR.When I try to boot of the copy, XP boots fine to the logon prompt. The mouse also works initally, but as soon as I try to use the keyboard, both the keyboard and mouse lock up. Same happens in all of the XP safe modes.

I've tried upgrading the TP BIOS, but this had no effect. Could this be a HDD driver issue, interrupt config, or is Norton not copying the disk properly?

I've also seen some strange behaviour on my working environment when the whole system appears to "hang" during high levels of disk activity. Are they related?

Thanks in advance,
