Hello Bati83,
in what kind of situation your driver stops?
I would suggest simply to uninstall and then install your gfx driver.
If you have updated it recently then your original driver is stored in C:\SWTools.

Andreas

I am getting exactly the same 'ayi2dvag' error with blue screen on a brand new Lenovo T400 while playing Crysis, usually after about 10 min of gameplay. Sometimes the game freezes first, and then the blue screen comes after 10-15 seconds.
I think this is most likely a BUG in ATI/Lenovo driver (I've gotten the latest drivers from Lenovo). I contacted ATI but they told me that mobile drivers are supported by laptop manufacturer.
T400 with Discrete graphics (ATI Mobility HD 3470), 2.8Ghz, 3 Gigs of RAM
Windows XP SP3
Any recommendations?

The Infinite loop problems happens to me to in both of my NEW W500 laptops!
That rotten ati2dvag!
What's the deal?!
after sniffing around on the Internet about this problem i found out that this problem is "out there" for the last
3 years and is passing from one ATI's GPU to another, and is constantly being IGNORED by ATI.
just type ati2dvag on google and see what a big and old problem it is.
now, usually i wouldn't mind, but i bought a Lenovo Thinkpad. it's supposed to be a rock solid computer. it not my first model (I have 4 others) and i would like to keep it that way! i need a solution quick or else I'll have no choice but to sell the W500 computers and revert back to T61p with NVIDIA GPU.
I do live visual shows with those computers and if i'll get even one blue screen during a show, thats the end of me.
Any solution? anyone?

I don't know how bad is your problem
my w500 crashes randomly, and like twice an hour
I sent it back for repair, didn't solve the problem
so I returned it, and the sales let me to re-order another w500 in order to get money back for my old one.
I used to have a t61p, which I miss very much now
I am waiting for my new w500 to see whether the problem still happens

I solved the problem!
I have the same model W500, with ATI fireGL v5700. I never had a problem with it until I started using a CAD program. It would crash anytime I did something particular with the blue screen of death BSOD blaming it on ati2dvag , and infinite loop caused by the driver. It drove me crazy for three days! Lenovo customer support tried to help, but they were clueless, and kept asking me to run the System Toolbox stress test (which it passed all, but did not detect the ati2dvag problem)
I tried the other solutions out there with no hope:
1) changed the PCI to PCI-to-PCI bridge ... did NOT solve the problem, and made my video card extremely slow.
2) went in safe mode, uninstalled drivers for ATI and everything related in the regedit... did NOT solve the problem, back to Zero
3) Backed up previouswindows restore point ...did NOT solve the problem, and lost some application installations
A Solution for the ati2dvag Problem (for model FireGL V5700):
The only thing that works is a new driver update (NOT from Lenovo), but from ATI. If you go to ATI website, you will notice that they do not support the "FireGL" V5700 card yet, but if you look under "FirePro" you will find FirePro V5700 (weird how it has the same model number, and same specs, hmm ... ). I downloaded that driver anyways and tried to instal it using setup.exe, and it failed saying that the hardware found is not supported. I was stuborn enough to MANUALLY instal the driver, and that's what WORKED!
Steps:
1) go to: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
2) Select FirePro models (NOT FireGL)
3) Select FirePro V5700 and download the file ~100 MB (when done, run file, and note where the file has been extracted)
4) You can try running the setup.exe file, but it will probably fail like it did with me
5) right click on MyComputer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Display, double click *your card name*, and clcik "update driver"
6) select "not this time", then "instal from a list or specific location", "Don't Search. I will choose the driver..", "Have Disk", "Browse" and then locate the extracted drivers..... for me it was under C:\AMD\FirePro ...look for the *.INF file in the driver folder
7) at this point the INF file will have a list of supported video cards. Choose selection "FirePro V5700 (FireGL)". YES it actually has "(FireGL)" between paranthesis ! coensidence ? .. I think not.
8) let it instal and retart your computer ...Done!
enjoy

Wow, this method lets you install the latest ATI Driver - 8.563. Thanks!
However I would use the one from lenovo website http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen

I recently encountered a similar problem - the message I was getting was ATIKMDAG.sys along with the blue screen.
I discovered that I had unintentionally caused the problem myself by installing the XP video driver from the W500 DDFM instead of installing the Vista video driver.
I un-installed the ATI XP driver, then installed the correct Vista driver, and the problem went away. Sort of what you might call a case of shooting myself in the foot.
For all you folks posting solutions (and problems) - it would be helpful to mention what OS you are running (Vista or XP), because W500 users seem to be using both. For example, referring to rfengr's very interesting post above - is that for XP, or for Vista?

Hi Ed,
I have the same problem on my W500, running XP. Crashes are mostly with Mozilla Firefox.
I installed the FirePro V5700 drivers according to your instruction, and it seems to be a little better, but now the same blue-screen is appearing again. So I want to ask:
1) Is the problem fixed on your computer?
2) Are you running XP or Vista?
3) Any further ideas?
Best,
Oliver
