The Lenovo thinkpad w510 does not want to wake up once it goes into sleep mode, I have to push the power button until it shuts down completely and then reboot it completely, I have tried different settings in the power management etc. We have the same pissue on 3 different w510`s with Windows 7 pro 64 Bit
Has anybody got a solution for this problem?

I have the same problem. After going standby, the laptop light next to the blue THinkvantage button blinks and the keyboard light near the camera blinks along with it. I tried pressing keys to wake up but none of them seem to work. Finally, I hold the power button to let the laptop shutdown and then press the power button to bring it back to life.
I have Windows 7 64 bit OS on the laptop. Any ideas why this could be happening?

I got the same problem. I've got this problem for a week. It was fine before. Don't know what happened.
Is anyone from Lenovo coming to explain this?

hi, i'm facing the same issue too, the HDD indicator would show signs of activity at first and after that when it stops, the WLAN indicator would still remain on and the fan would still be running, so would the HDD and the laptop doesn't "sleep" as per se.
heck, i can even turn on and off my thinklight.
in the end, i'm required to force sleep my W510 (holding down the power button), booting it up again.
i'm also running the latest bios as well as drivers, including the power managemer 3.25.

thanks jamez for the prompt response, i have tried the BIOS update that you have provided, to no avail, the issue still remains, it can't sleep nor hibernate still. i've also updated power manager to 3.30 and still the same thing.
i've also set up my RAM as mentioned and no change.
removing 3rd party RAM also no change.
some help please?

Could you try to do a recovery without any non Lenovo software installed to test if your machine could be put into sleep nor hibernate. If problem still persist, please bring your system to be checked at the service center.

hi, aparently this issue has been faced on my computer when it was still running 32bit of windows 7 enterprise, i then upgraded to 64bit of windows 7 ultimate. i replaced my hard drive today as it had been facing some targeted read test issues and even after all this, it still faces the same issues.
now im pretty lost as to what i am to do.
