W520 Color Calibration not working after standby

2012-02-11, 23:31 PM

I have calibrated the display of my Thinkpad W520 using the interal calibrator and the preinstalled Pantone software. After the calibration the display looks much better.

If I reboot, the correct calibration profile is loaded. But if I go to stanby instead (by closing, then opening the notebook) the calibrated profile is not loaded, but instead another one (with cold blue colors).

Any help is appreciated. (Uninstalling and reinstalling the Pantone software did not help).

Hello Outertech,

As I understand, it might be an issue with your Display driver, I suggest you to update your Display driver from the below mentioned web link.

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT063273

Please choose category as Display and the Operating System which you are using in your system.

If it do not work, then you can download the BIOS update Utility from the same web link.

Regards,

Harish

I have the same problem. When resuming from standby, the correct colour profile seems to be applied, but is replaced by some default thing after a few seconds. This also happens when Windows UAC pops up. I looked for driver updates at the link posted above, but none of the downloads in the list there seem to be relevant. FWIW, I have updated everything through the ThinkVantage System Update thing.

Likewise I also have the same problem when coming out of a number of the power saving modes.

I wonder if the cause is actually the W520 switching between graphics cards as a means of reducing the power consumption in different states. I think this may be called Nvidia Optimus.

Perhaps this could be disabled?

Cheers

I'm encountering the same issues too and I'm not sure if optimus is to blame. It does seem to be the likely culprit. Did anyone find out anything new on the subject?
