W520 Color Calibration on Windows 8

2013-02-15, 19:47 PM

I've installed the Lenovo/XRite Pantone Color Calibrator that worked fine in Windows 7, but on Windows 8 Pro it cannot detect the internal sensor. Any ideas how to get it working?

Hi, Outertech

I would make sure your BIOS and video card drivers are fully up to date, as these both play a pivotal role in your operating system being able to detect changes. The latest BIOS can be found here and the latest graphics card driver can be found here.

Hope it helps,

Adam

Re: W520 Color Calibration on Windows 8

Hi Adam:

Thanks for responding to this discussion, that is kind of you.

I have the same problem as Outertech - the Pantone colour calibration device is not detected on my system following a clean install (new SSD, installation done with full retail purchase of W8 - not 'upgrade' media).

My BIOS is up to date  - in fact, I am using UEFI boot exclusively - and to the best of my knowledge, I have installed all the appropriate drivers.  I downloaded all the drivers from the driver list, and in addition, ran the most recent version of System Update to ensure nothing was missing.

I don't see a driver for the Pantone colour calibration device on the W520 DDFM, and the only application that I see on the W520 DDFM that deals with the Pantone colour calibration device is version 1.10, which is described as being for Windows 7 and Windows XP only.

I don't even see the Pantone device showing up in my Device Manager (see the image below).

So, my questions are:

1) Does this device need a driver?

2) Apparently it needs an application, is there a Windows 8 compatible application for it?

3) What do I need to do to enable function of this device on my 4270-CTO with Windows 8 Pro?

This request is not urgent.

Thanks,

Michael

I'm running a test bed Windows 8 system on one of my W520 machines using the Panatone 1.10 program + an upgraded X-Rite Device Services Manager 2.2.61. The color calibration appears to work fine. My Intel drivers are 9.17.10.2932 and not the stock W520 version, the BIOS level is 1.40.
