When booting up the W520 with the 170w AC adapter attached, the screen is showing the error message below.

The connected AC adapter has a lower wattage than the recommended model which was shipped with the system. To boot with the AC adapter, please connect the AC adapter which was shipped with the system.

Press Esc to continue.

After ESC is pressed, and the laptop boots into Windows, am getting a similar error below.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Programs and Features
  4. Find Lenovo Power Manager
  5. Click Uninstall
  6. Reboot laptop
  7. Download latest Power Manager from Support site
  8. Install Power Manager
  9. Done

This is NOT a solution to this problem. I have uninstalled and updated BOTH the power driver and Power Manager software to the latest available and the problem persists. Several people on the Forum have stated that they had to send their machines in for repair which ended up with a motherboard replacement. Several people said that they had Lenovo send a replacement AC adapter but, again, the problem persists. I think Lenovo really needs to step up to the plate with this and offer a concrete disclosure of what is actually happening and what the real solution is.
