Question

I want to be able set up a supervisor password in a ThinkPad W520 via a script (automatically).

I know that they are 2 solutions to change a supervisor password. If the target computer has beforehand an old password:

  • WMI
  • Capture/Playback Utility (SRSETUPWIN)

The problem is that i don't want to set up beforehand a password.

Is there another solution to do this?

Answer

Unfortunately it is not possible to set a password automatically as per your question.

This is highly unadvisable as unsuspecting malware could be able to set an unknown password which could cause your whole system to brick.

It is highly recommended and the only way the only way to set a password is by manually going into BIOS Setup.  From there you can change the password by script.
