Ok I just got my brand new spanking W520 today
I have a question re: upgrading the memory
It came with one 4gig stick which is in one of the slots under the keyboard
and there is 2 slots open under the bottom of the case
So.....
To install my 2 sticks of matching 4gig Ram I had waiting,,,,
do I remove the stick of ram under the keyboard and put my new sticks of ram in those two slots ??
or can I leave the existing ram in the slot 'a' under the keyboard
and put my new ram sticks in slot 'a' and 'b' under the case
and have 12 gigs of ram lol
btw, I have the i7 Dual core, not the Quad
thanks

ok but the thing is......
The memory 'bay' on the bottom of laptop has two open slots
so that means the one stick of 4gig it shipped with must be installed in slot 'a'
under the keyboard
so
do i install both modules there under the keyboard in slot 'a' and 'b' ??
or
slot 'a' under the keyboard and slot 'a' under the laptop ?
or
pull out the one under the keyboard and use the two slots under the laptop ?
or...... ??

well after a search it appears it is the same as the W510
In my situation I put one module in slot 'a' under the keyboard
and the other module in slot 'a' under the laptop bottom
*sigh

Ok who's going to give me $1000???
I just spent $100 on 16GB, it's 10 times that just to double it! I wonder how long until the 8GB is 10 times cheaper than it is now?
Edit: Buy it in pairs and save a few $! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8
Edit 2: Even cheaper! http://www.ramexperts.com/corsair-16gb-2-x-8gb-204

Congrats on getting your new laptop :-) I've documented how to add RAM to the W520. Click here for details.
