I just opened up the hard drive bay to repace the stock 320GB drive with a 500GB Seagate Momentus XT and found that the HDD that shipped with my computer is a Hitachi Travelstar Z7K320 which is a thin (7mm) drive instead of the a standard 2.5" drive which is 9.5mm thick. So the rubber rails don't fit on the new drive. Did they put the wrong drive in or is this standard? I thought only the slim ThinkPads eg. T420s had 7mm drives. Can I get Lenovo to send me new rubber rails?
The 320gb drives are 7mm thick. The 500gb drives are 9.5mm thick. The rubber rails for the 9.5mm HDD are: FRU 41V9756 which can be ordered from the parts website.
