The temperature of my W520 reads at 59+ C at all times and the fan speed is always high at 2,915 RPM. When I installed the TPFC, the smart option would keep the temp at 71 degrees and the fan speed at 2,175 RPM. The temp seems high to me compare to the other info I've read on this forum. A youtube video in HD takes the temp up to 70 with BIOS setting on the fan control and raises the speed of fan up to 3,555 RPM.
I have 24 GB of RAM and a docking station with two additional displays hooked up.
What additional info do you need to give some clue on the this issue?

Thanks for the reply. I have 1000M. I have not repaced or replaced the fan yet, although Lenovo has sent me one to replace. i did not want to send my laptop so I asked them to ship it to me. Is it too complicated to replace it?

It's not too difficult on the W520. You can follow the W520 HMM to replace the heatsink yourself.
Usually, there's nothing wrong with the existing heatsink, but rather the vents may be packed with dust.
