W540 - Mobile Broadband?

2014-01-18, 13:05 PM

Hi, I recieved the W540 a few days ago, and I see there is a slot behind the battery for a SIM card, I tried using my SIM card and I still can't use mobile broadband. so I have a few questions:

Can I use mobile broadband on the W540? do I need any drivers? and if I can't use it, can I buy something like this for the expresscard slot and insert the SIM in the slot behind the battery?

Please help me, I really want this thing worked out.

Thanks :)

If it's anything like W520, only the SIM card slot and antennas are installed out-of-the-box. You will need to buy the actual WWAN module and install it in the mSATA slot.

Under the keyboard, there should be two slots. One has the Wifi card, and the other will be empty.

This slot can hold either the WWAN card or the M.2 SSD.

There should be 2 wires going to the empty slot.

as for the card you need to buy, you should look for the proper part number in the lenovo service guides for the machine.
