W700: Device Manager Alerts - missing WIN 7 driver after clean install

After doing a fesh install of w7 plus the Thinkvantage tools, neither touchpad scrolling nor the blue button work .

Also, The Thinkvantage Toolbax says a bunch of drivers are not installed (see below).  How do I update these drvers and get these items working?

Thanks!

Re: Device Manager Alerts from Lenovo Toolbox

ThinkVantage sy8stem update is a program that can download and install supported windows 7 hardware and software automatically and install.

This can be found at

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/TVSU-UPDATE.html

or by googling the doc id "TVSU-UPDATE"

Software and drivers are missing that is all

The thinkVantage productivity center controls the ThinkVanatage button within the OS

there are a plenty other feature like Fn+F7(presentation director) and Fn+F5(hotkey utility) that arent working as well.

If you provide you machine type and model I might be of more assistance

Re: Device Manager Alerts from Lenovo Toolbox

It's a W700 -  2757CTO.  Does that give you what you need?

Thanks very much!

Re: Device Manager Alerts from Lenovo Toolbox

I just went to that page you provided and in the readme under systems supported it does not list the w700.  Is there a different update?

thanks.

Win 7 Driver Updates - Totally Confused

After doing a fresh install of w7-64 on my w700 2575-CTO and installing the toolbox and being told a bunch of drivers are missing, I finally found this page:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=/product.do?template=%2Fproductpage%2...

What the....??  How on earth do you know which ones to install?  Shouldn't there be a utility which scopes out the machine and install what is needed?  One single download to rule them all?

Somebody, please, help me make sense of this.

Thanks!

Re: Device Manager Alerts from Lenovo Toolbox

well sir the problem can be fixed.....but it won't be easy Smiley Happy

The following link is a page to all the drivers for your system including windows 7.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70498.html

I'm haven't been able to put my my finger on where the windows 7 presentation director download is....but the windows 7 ----- Windows Presentation Tool----- works just fine.

Try this document for the system update instead->

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73695

sorry for the wait I just got home. I'm going to do a bit ore searching. tell me what happens with the other system update link

Re: Win 7 Driver Updates - Totally Confused

On a "fresh" W7 you can try download, install and run:

ThinkVantage System Update 4.0
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/license.do?filename=thinkvantage_en/systemupdate40-2009-1...

I had some issues installing W7 maybe you can find anything helpfull from that thread:

Re: Win 7 Driver Updates - Totally Confused

Thanks but the "I agree" system update link brings up a 404.   I have downloaded and run this previously howevevr (systemupdate40-2009-10-19.exe, right?) but it makes no difference.  Is it supposed to do a cumulative update?  It did nothing but run an install program and ask for a reboot, afterwhiich nothing happened.  Is there a program I'm supposed to run afterwards?

Thanks very much.

Re: Device Manager Alerts from Lenovo Toolbox

Jeez, no problem, thanks for the help!

I've already run systemupdate40-2009-10-19.exe  and it simply runs an installl program, does a reboot, and then nothing. Even though is says "ThinkVantage System Update will start automatically after installation is complete."  Is there something I need to run after the reboot?

I started this thread too after finally finding the page with all the updates

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Win-7-Driver-Updates-Totally-Confused/m-p/1760...

so maybe we should continue over there?

Thanks again lyvwhyr!.

Re: Win 7 Driver Updates - Totally Confused

Go to -

Start - All Programs - Thinkvantage - System Update

You have installed it but this will run it. You can set it to run automatically
