W700 Mini Dock 1.0 Vs W700 Mini Dock 2.0 - differences?

Hi all,

Could someone please point out the differences between the W700 Mini Dock 1.0 and W700 Mini Dock 2.0?

As far as I can tell Lenovo doesn't want to make it easy to tell them apart. I assume one is newer and supposedly "improved" but is this true and if so what?

Many thanks in advance,

hazart

Re: W700 Mini Dock 1.0 Vs W700 Mini Dock 2.0 - differences?

So the only difference it seems is that one comes with a 170W PSU for the W700 and the other doesn't come with any PSU. Version 2.0 is also supposedly compatible with the W701, W701ds and its 230W PSU....

...but when looking at the specification sheet of version 1.0 below it states hardware compatability for ThinkPad W700, W700ds, W701, W701ds. If true then version 1.0 must also support the 230W PSU as I doubt the W701/W701ds will even boot-up with a 170W PSU.

There are models of W701 that come with 170W power bricks though.

Oh, I see, I didn't realise. I guess the ones with the Quadro FX 2800M are 170W with the Quadro FX 3800M being the 230W. Thanks.
