W700 - WinDVD wants AACS Key, Corel says to get it from Lenovo..

2009-07-22, 23:42 PM

Has anyone run WinDVD on their W700 yet?

I'm stuck, unable to get an AACS license.

Here's how it goes:

1) Ran WinDVD for the first time on a new W700.

2) WinDVD says AACS key will soon expire, and to 'click to download a key'.

3) A WinDVD web page says to register and 'wait while it downloads the key', then waits forever.

4) WinDVD's knowledgebase says to get the key from your bundled pc's manufacturer.

5) The Lenovo knowledgebase says download 8.09.581 to fix this problem, but its the version I already have.

6) The update's readme file says it applies to a list of models but doesn't mention the W700.

7) Ran the update anyway, it aborts because it is the same as what's installed.

Can't seem to get around this.

Sent an email to WinDVD support but it didn't feel like I should expect a response soon.

W700 with BlueRay drive, WinDVD 8.09.581

Any feedback appreciated.. Thanks!!

Anyone?  I'm sure my temporary license will expire soon and then no more BluRay player, after all the $$$ I paid. :(

I would like to know the solution as well. I have the same problem (now the key is expired), however, I just click no to "update" and the player still plays BD fine.

Maybe it's just a bug?

Hi Confederate,

I was wondering if you might be able to assist me or point me in the right direction.  I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with a sata blu-ray burner and I use the preinstalled WinDVD 8 on Vista Ultimate 32 bit.  I'm currently getting an error message when I try to play a blu-ray movie 2012 that my AACS Key has Expired to run the update to resolve the issue.  I downloaded and installed windvd8020129u update from the Lenovo drivers website but I didn't have any luck in resolving the issue.  Do you have any suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

Cruz
