Re: does this memory compatible with W530 machine?

Hi lmei007,

Warm Greetings & welcome to Lenovo Community, happy to have you here.

Looking at the specifications sheet (PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3) looks good to use with W530.

I hope the above information helped you.

Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

Regards,
Prabhansh

Re: does this memory compatible with W530 machine?

Thank you, Prabhansh. is that PC3-12800S the same as the PC3-12800? That extra 'S' doesn't matter?
Thanks

Re: does this memory compatible with W530 machine?

It's fine.  The "S" is for SO-DIMM.  All laptop memory is SO-DIMM

Re: does this memory compatible with W530 machine?

how do I know the machine is dual-core model or quad-core model? is that i7-????QM is quad-core and i7-????XM is dual-core model?

some memory says it is unbufferred. does that mean it is not as good as bufferred memory? all PC3-12800 1600MHz are unbufferred or just some of them are unbufferred.

thanks,

Re: does this memory compatible with W530 machine?

You want/need unbuffered.  Buffered is related to ECC which you don't have.  QM is quad core.  XM is quad core (extreme).  M is dual core
