Ever since I got the p72 the fingerprint reader has been a disaster. It has worked a few times but for the most part it doesn't work, and does not light up on the Windows login screen. When it doesn't work, sometimes the Synaptics WBDI SGX shows up with an exclamation point in device manager, but half of the time it shows up as working correctly.
I tried manually reinstalling the driver from the Lenovo website. If I do that and re-enroll the prints it might work for a day maybe two, then it goes back to not working.
What gives? This seems fundamentally broken.

I don't see how this is a hardware problem. I'm currently in the cycle where it works for ~3 days, then it stops working. I go to the windows fingerprint page remove the old ones and register the finger again, and it starts working based on registering new fingerpint data. if it was a hardware problem it wouldn't work just by registering new fingers in Windows. Works for ~3 days, then stops again. rinse, repeat.
