i recently bought used w520 2860qm with quadro 2000m.
Old hdd seagate drive runs games nicely with windows 7 pro...
But the nightmare starts when i ve replaced new ssd (kingston v300 120 gb) and installed windows 8 pro...
Gaming fps drops from 150 fps (windows 7 pro) -> 60 fps (windows 8.1 pro) and games got disturbind fps drops what occur only using windows 8.1.
I have installed nvidia optimus drivers from lenovo support pages like 5 times, but nothing makes sense. Passmark bencmark runs simular scores with both windows versions... So drivers should work... Whats wrong? is there some lenovo cpu drivers or something what makes my life miserable with windows 8.1 pro?
Is w520 optimus mode really only for windows 7 like bios is telling?
And as i said windows 8.1 runs great. But games got terrible fps... i have forced nvidia to work so thats not the problem.
Thanks for hints.

Solved by updating bios 1,42 and installing windows 8.1 again with no win updates and istalling only lenovo`s graphic driver patch including optimus quadros and intel hd family stuff.
win 8.1 usb media was new from ms sites.
im not sure should i update my system when everything is working.
cs go fps with normal game graphs setup around 100 without sudden fps drops.

It was optional update...
