w530 ultra bay hard drive caddy

Greetings.

I am looking into expanding the storage space in my W530. Naturally, the easiest option is the ultraybay storage adapter.  However, I need some advice on which adapter is correct.  There are two listed in the Lenovo store.

Which adapter is correct for the W530?  Also, is the SATA port for the ultrabay 6gb/s?

Final question. Will this hard drive fit in the correct adapter, and will the W530 provide enough power for it?

Either of those HDD/SSD adapters with work.  The 12.7mm version filles the entire bay space so there is no gap.

The Ultrabay is indeed SATA III.

That hard drive will not work.  At 15mm it is too fat.  I think it also has power requirements that exceed the capability in the Ultrabay connector.

Re: w530 ultra bay hard drive caddy

I purchased the 12.7 mm adapter from Lenovo directly and fits like a glove on my W520 w/o the gap mentioned by ThorsHammer.

The W530 should also be the same as the W520.

Re: w530 ultra bay hard drive caddy

Has this changed since this post in November? I've searched the Lenovo site for this as I have a new W530 and can't find a part number. I even called the Lenovo cust service 1-800 number and was told this no longer existed.

Thanks,
Steve
