web browsers freeze/crash when switching networks

On my Thinkpad w520, when I switch networks, such as going from wifi to ethernet (on dock), or the reverse (dock to wifi), or even going from wifi at home to wifi at work, all of my web browsers hang and will not work until I restart them. This happens with IE 9, Firefox, and Chrome, exactly the same behavior (which is suspicious enough).

The two wifi networks I join most often are set to autoconnect and that generally happens just fine. But there is something that hangs the browsers almost every time. This is really obnoxious because I lose what I'm looking at in tabs that I have open. Other than that, the laptop seems to work just fine.

Has anyone else seen this issue or have any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Re: web browsers freeze/crash when switching networks

Hi, nelsonmc

I would firstly recommend (just to be safe) making sure all your drivers and your BIOS have been updated. Looking at the latest drivers, there are recent BIOS updates, as well as updates for both the WLAN and LAN connectivity. These, among others, should be updated to make sure that they are not causing the issue. Also, which operating system are you running?

Thanks in advance,

Adam
