Re: 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)

2017-11-20, 22:41 PM

Have the same problem on T420s, Ubuntu 16.04 but I think OS doesn't matter here. For me the problem occurs all the time if I handle the laptop inaccurately, for example after a little bump on the table or inside my bag it get's messed up and when I run it this 2100 error comes. About a month ago it started to happen and at that point I just did hard shutdown of laptop, waited for a couple of minutes and the turned it on again normally, Now it got worse because I need to wait more and more time. Right now I need to wait like several hours before it starts booting normally again.

I am not an expert in metal but for me it seems as a purely physical problem (most probably with motherboard as otterslide mentioned) but not a problem of drivers.

I have an old E531 running Win7 64 bit, and this started happening immediately after a recent Windows update. What would be the proper chipset/IRST combination for this laptop? I DID put the HDD into another 531 and got the same error, and took the HDD from that laptop and put it in mine where it booted successfully, with one major caveat: that HDD and the other laptop were Win 10. I don't know if that mitigates the chipset/IRST error or not, but I'm looking for any hope of recovering, even briefly, this HDD. Prior to the update I had no errors on the machine.

Found the solution. This may work for you, but you should give it a try.

Open laptop. Remove the HDD cable and clean the heads(also the connection between HDD and motherboard, must be clean)

If you get error partition during install. Let me know.

I didn't go through the full post by I wanted to highligt that my curcustances were extactly the same as yours, Same model as well.

Also, I dont expect you to reply as obviosly it yhas been 2 years now but is the only place I have found with the same environment and replication if I can say. Mine is a S440, probably quiet similar to the T440 and the scenario is the same, I changed from Legacy to UEFI Boot, enabled Secure Boot and imaged the pc with a copy of Windows 10 via USB with TPM prep.

Re: 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)

I have a yoga intel core i5-4200u. I bought it used and it is running ok. Problem is, this morning i received the same message when i turned it on. I ran the diagnostics and everything seemed to be ok, except that there was no hardrive on the diagnostics list. So, i thought that my drive was gone and i had to replace it. I opened it up and saw that the hardrive wasn't in its placed, it had slipped, because there is a small space that it was covered with a small piece of sponge(!). So i put it back in its place and it is running again...

When I opened the back panel and visually inspected the hard drive, I noticed the sata connector was slightly out on one side and all the way in on the other side. I’m talking maybe .5mm to 1.5mm. I took out the hard drive and found that a tiny little corner for the plastic sata housing on the hard drive had bent in. This little plastic was not allowing the drive to go all the way in. I used a precision screw driver with a small 1.3mm flat head bit to get the plastic piece out. Plugged it all back in and it worked! So it was physical hard drive connection issue with my laptop.

The piece probably bent in when I put the hard drive in yesterday but it worked all day yesterday and when I restarted this morning it no longer booted into Windows. Also, the sata connector on the motherboard had no play and didn’t wiggle at all, so that was in great shape.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T440 I am getting this error several times I ALSO SEARCHED IT ON BROWSER FOR ANY SOLUTION AND i HAVE ALMOST TRIED them all but nothing seems to work for me

I have also checked all connections of MY ADATA SSD with the motherboard.

I have also checked my battery if there is a problem with it.

I reinstalled the windows several times but it did not work.

I have  updated all driver with WINDOWS UPDATE and LENOVO VANTAGE.

but it keeps poppong this error

Image

I also changed my BOOToption in BIOS from LEGACY to UEFI and then I reinstalled windows in its UEFI mode and then I checked it and also CSM is set to "NO" in my BIOS and then after all again after 4-5 hours it gives the blue screen which I uploaded above I earlier post and then It gives me that black screen of detection error.

It also happens randomly I was doing my work and all was working fine vut suddenly laptop's screen stucks and it says that message.

I could not find the solution of it.

SO PLEASE HELP ME IN THIS REGARD IF YOU HAVE ANY SOLUTION OF IT
