I bought an Asus guys, and a graphic table. Forget Lenovo and its delays.

Actually the 14" does come with a dedicated graphics chip: the NVIDIA GeForce GT 940M. By default programs don't run on the GeForce -- they use the integrated Intel graphics. You can set it to default to the GeForce, or you can set it to use the GeForce for specific programs. Since the GeForce takes a lot more power that's probably the best plan, since running everything on the dedicated chip would eat your battery life.

Source: I've owned the TPY 14 with digitizer for about a month now (ever since I gave up on waiting for the 15.6" version).

Plus, check it out: it's on sale at Best Buy for $799 right now! http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-thinkpad-yoga-2-in-1-14-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-1tb-16gb-hybrid-hard-drive-black/7067032.p?id=1219668752948&skuId=7067032

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Active Pen

I'd like to thank everyone who's contributed to this thread for keeping me up to date to with the failure that is the thinkpad yoga 15 active pen.

I finally found a laptop that fills this niche, combining power, size, and specs with the active pen.

For those of you who need a relatively powerful laptop with an active digitizer, look into the HP Envy x360 with HP's active pen.

I purchased mine used from best buy with the following specs

  • intel i7
  • 8gb ram
  • 2gb dedicated graphics
  • 1 tb 5400 rpm hdd--->swapped this out for a 500gb ssd, a bit trick due to laptop construction
  • 3 usb ports
  • hdmi port
  • ethernet port
  • all metal body
  • 5 hours of battery when used intensively

It is compatible with HP's active stylus right out of the box.

HP doesn't explicitly state this on their site or forums, but I checked compatibility before making my purchase. I recommend you check your laptop prior to purchase as well.

The pressure sensitivity is pretty ********** on apps such as fresh paint, but works well with Wacom Bamboo Paper.

I've also heard whispers about dell's active pen being way better. If someone tries this combination, please let us know.

Best of luck

Yes... Unfortunately they droped the ball..

But now I'll just wait for the Microsoft surface book.

It looks amazing.

I don't understand why someone can't make a Windows stylus similar to the 53 Pencil Stylus for Ipad and Iphone.  These IOS products also lack a digitizer, yet it seems possible to have pressure sensitivity and palm rejection.  It seems that all that is lacking is Bluetooth Drivers for windows.  Come on Lenovo!

I was looking around a couple days ago and found something about a new 2 in 1 Lenovo is planning to launch at January 2016. Lenovo thinkpad 460 which is supposed to be 14inch and have a rechargable wacom stylus with a nice build in slot to store the stylus just like the one in the thibkpad yoga 12. Therefore just as someone said on that post comments "twice bite, twice shy", I'll not believe a single word until I see it happen... so I will wait and see since I don't have enough money to buy the bestbuy one now anyways :/

Be patent, you can wait for a while to save enough money to buy the machine.

BTW, I just checked the laptop model information on Lenovo website, and turns out, the active pen driver is already available to download for Thinkpad Yoga 460 even it's not on the market yet!

See: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-yoga-460

I guess this Yoga 460 with active pen support will be on the market some time between Nov to Jan soon. From the manual, it seems TPY 460 to be on the same line as TPY 14 type 20FY and others. Ref: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/yoga14_mt20fy_yoga460_ug_en.pdf

New features like the rechargeable active pen and the fingerprint reader without swipping are in the manual.

TPs own: X31 (2003), X61T, X200T, Tablet 2, P50 (2016); Win XP-10, Ubuntu8.04-16.04.

"Hope springs eternal in the human breast;Man never is, but always to be blessed:The soul, uneasy and confined from home,Rests and expatiates in a life to come."

Alexander Pope, An Essay on Man

Wacom Corp. has had a strangle-hold on the pressure sensitive technology for waaaaay too long now.

Seems that they (and tablet makers) are slowly offering it to the marketplace, in increments and

1/2 " size increases to the display.

I imagine there are many people who want this tech to draw, including kids, but

Wacom has been selling to the Big Media Corps first... and slowly allowing consumer products to seep into the

market. Just a theory, but seems like Business as Usual as "artists" don't usually have

the most money to buy these toys.

Now that other players have cracked their nut (NTrig, etc) Wacom has finally offered  the Companion.

This has been going on for over 20 years now.

I'm all for capitalism, but NOT for Monopolies and strangulation of the "free" marketplace.

Esp. of the arts in any form.

I guess that's why their name is pronounced "Wack em".
