Note-taking using Thinkpad Stylus on Twist?

2013-01-09, 12:46 PM

I would like to take notes on the Twist laptop.  I have purchased the standard Lenovo stylus (see photo here).  I also have Microsoft Word 2013, but can't get the inking feature to take pen input.  Simply, I can't get this pen to work with my laptop at all.  Do I need a different pen, or does this laptop not take pen input?

Thanks in advance for any answers or suggestions!

You need a capacitive stylus. the most common are the one with a big black tip. I personally use the jot pro from adonit. It the most precise I've found

Hey thanks for seconding this. I would add that customer comments in the Amazon.com page said they used a stylus/pen to get crystal clear notes, so I'm just wondering what they used, or what the options are.

Re: Note-taking using Thinkpad Stylus on Twist?

I have a Thinkpad Twist as of today, and need to know if there are any digitizer pens compatible with this device. Nearly all of the convertible devices I researched when deciding upon this one either came with a digitizer pen, or sold one separately. I am a student, and a digitizer pen is how I've taken notes on my old hp Pavilion tx2500, then converted the notes to text to build my papers. I wanted a similar device, and this is the only one I could find that I really liked. The unfortunate thing is, I haven't found a digitizer pen/stylus that will work for it. Does anyone know if one exists, even a generic/universal one, and where I might purchase one? Thank you for your help.

This worked for me. I searched jot pro and capacitive stylus and found a bunch of them on eBay. I also purchased one from the ipad accessories section of my local store, and it works like a charm with my Thinkpad Twist. The less expensive ones are under $10, if anyone else needs to know. Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, I also purchased the JotPro, but it's difficult to write on my thinkpad twist.  I can't take notes very well, not nearly as well as it appears to be on the iPad.  What app are you using?  How did you get it to work so well?

It has worked well for me using OneNote, Sticky Note, and Windows Journal. Then, I prefer a wider pen setting for note-taking in OneNote and Windows Journal. Try that, and see if it helps. If not, re-calibrating your stylus settings using this pen might help. Let me know how it works out! :)

I'm really disappointed by the touch screen. I have no right to be, but I didn't know that capacitive screens don't work for inking until I tried it. So ... I was thinking of maybe buying an Intuos/Bamboo, opening up the screen, and installing it inside? I've seen pictures/videos online of people doing it with various laptops and monitors. How feasible is it?
