Re: Switch ThinkPad Yoga Clickpad with new TrackPad

2016-05-14, 15:23 PM

I got a new synaptics three button trackpad from ebay and while it works I'd like to know what the latest driver for this one is. The n10gx25w is from 2014 and not windows 10 optimized.

Re: Switch ThinkPad Yoga Clickpad with new TrackPad

I know this is old, I stumbed across it while trying to determine if the Yoga supports multitouch (a friend at work just picked up an old Yoga and updated it to 10).

But I wanted to mention, it's not the device driver install setting you'll want to look at.  That post talks about two separate features, and down further in that blog post shows how to block actual Windows Updates (the synaptics driver update that's coming automatically).  It's actually the same mechanism as Windows 7/8, only using a new UI to accomplish it (or you could put the command into PowerShell manually if you want).  But it will indeed block the driver coming from Windows Update.

PS. thanks for the referral, it's not often I stumble across a linkback in the wild haha :)

Now if I could just make this old Yoga allow two finger scroll.

PPS. What is up with the "whole trackpad" being a massive button?

PPPS.  Even though it's not my laptop, that Fn key to the left of Ctrl screws up every keyboard shortcut I think I'm pressing :)

That's the same blocking tool outlined in the blog post above about how to block an update. I guess I need to update that blog post so it's very clear that it discusses both separate options.

Hey,

i know this thread is kinda old.

Until today it worked for fine with the workaround you guys made here. Thanks for that.

But today Win10 decided to install an update and nothing is working anymore. First of all Win10 is unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device.

and secondly is there anyone who can provide the file again? the dropbox location is sadly down.

thank you a lot and greetings

Here is the registry file link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a9m9qhvoud1qje2/new_touchpad.reg?dl=0

Dropbox recently changed the policy for "Public" folders, so the previous link does not work.

I will fix the link in the old post.

[Edit]

Oh, I cannot edit the old post.

Here I include the contents of the file: new_touchpad.reg

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SynTP\Parameters]
"ExtraCapabilities7Add"=dword:00010000
"ExtraCapabilities7Mask"=dword:ffffffff

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh]
"ScrollMethod"=dword:00000005
"SynapticsScrollMethodSpeedFactor"=dword:00005000

Re: Switch ThinkPad Yoga Clickpad with new TrackPad

Hi, thanks to all for great thread. Recently I bought replacement for the original thinkpad yoga touchpad because original one was damaged. Of course I wanted the physical buttons... Being cheap, I ordered this one:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Original-for-Lenovo-Thinkpad-X230S-X240S-X240-X250-S1-Yoga-Touchpad-Three-Keys-Button-Clicker/32810425099.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.dlhQlO

It fully works with the UltraNav[n10gx25w].exe driver, but when I tried the new driver (trying all three ways described in this thread), no response from physical buttons at all. Is there any simple solution?

Thanks and sorry for being cheap first and then bother others (btw. the orig. replacement part costs over 200 eur in official NL distribution)

Ivan

Solved:

I followed procedure described by mrmartin in different thread of this forum (see link below) and it works for me.

Glad my workaround still works. I haven't used mine ever since getting my gaming MSI laptop.

Thank you @ esrevinu your solution is the most elegant one I've come across while digging many sites/forums/posts about this subject today.

I've just installed Win10 on a Yoga S1 I equipped with a Yoga 12's trackpad.

I refused Synaptic driver installation from Lenovo Software Update, and installed manually Synaptic driver downloaded from Lenovo's Yoga 12 driver page. And then I've applied your .reg file. After a reboot: perfect!
