Re: Switch ThinkPad Yoga Clickpad with new TrackPad

Is this what you all are looking for ??

Original clickpad.JPG

I did it!!!! Not that difficult it you are only replacing the clickpad!!

NEW clickpad.JPG

One major problem though.  The physical buttons is just not working!  I tried installing the new Thinkpad X250 drivers but no go.  The trackpad and the point works.  Just that I cannot get the phyical buttons to be recognised.  I am now hoping that the new yoga 12.5" with the physical buttons starts shipping and there is a new driver.

Any one has any ideas?  The good part about this new clickpad is that it is much much easier to press. Does not travel down as much. The feel of the three physical buttons is excellent!  Praying.......

Well,

I just saw that the yoga 12 support page is now up. I tried the drivers there and it does not work as well. But I found that if I removed the synaptic drivers and just use the windows drivers, the left and right button works!

I cant figure out a way to get the middle button to work though. May be able to get it working as advertise through a combination of drivers. Anyone has any thoughts on this? But I am still glad wo use the pointer only with the right and left buttons!

Wow! I am really surprised to see this! That's really nice. In fact it makes the whole (?) '40. series usable.

Drivers for the new 2015 line won't most likely work, bacause they are written for different hardware. In Your case, there are propably some small differences on the motherboard, so new drivers won't recognise your machine and won't work properly with your laptop. Who knows, maybe will Lenovo edit them for modded '40 models too?

Have you tried installing Lenovo Autoscroll? Maybe You could've tried driver for latest 'classic' Carbon with physical keys as well. Remember, I am only triying to help :)

I suggest uninstalling the Lenovo Ultranav drivers and instead trying the generic Synaptic drivers (www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php).

Got it fully working!  I had to use this drivers. I tried alot of different models including the original synaptics drivers from their own website and all did not work with the buttons. Only this one worked!  Gesture and all are working fine with the buttons!

This is a lovely notebook again!

So what is the FRU number that we need for this new trackpad/clickpad?

Also - @oliverpool - the link to the correct drivers didn't come through.  Can you please post the URL?

@oliverpool

Fantastic! That's what I hoped for when I made this thread :D

Where did you buy the new TrackPad? And could you post the link to the working driver again?
