Re: Switch ThinkPad Yoga Clickpad with new TrackPad

Successfully switched with my 1st gen TP Yoga to 3 button pad very smoothly, thanks to this thread.  So happy with it :smileyhappy: 00HN577 was delivered just the next day after I placed the order from IBM.  Video guide was very helpful, so it was very quick and worry free all the way.

Re: Switch ThinkPad Yoga Clickpad with new TrackPad (Thinkpad Yoga 14 Installation)

Thinkpad_20   You are the best...Followed your instructions...Got the buttons off ebay from China for the T440 for $88.

The buttons worked right away but the track pad would not pick up any finger touch and the track pad settings were grayed out in the mouse settings.  Nothing else anyone said worked except your instructions.

The Chipset link for win 8.1 is:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility-

The links for the Synaptic Yoga 14 drivers jfgc09ww are at:

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds102021

It is the SCCM Pack for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) 774.3 MB
When browsing with have disk, look for the input devices and choose the largest .inf file.

Many thanks

New trackpad WITH BUTTONS - INSTALLED!!!

2015-05-11, 23:25 PM

Woo hoo!  I just got my trackpad with buttons and now have it installed.  It's great!  I used the n10gx25w driver - however, note that I had to install it TWICE... the first install it failed to install one component.  Then the driver wouldn't uninstall, so I just installed it a 2nd time on top of itself, and it worked fine that time.

One note - I actually uninstalled the synaptic driver before I installed it, and with NO driver installed, everything worked great.  Trackpoint buttons clicked, trackpad buttons clicked, everything fine - just no gestures on the trackpad.  So if you don't actually need gestures, you might consider not installing any drivers at all.  At least on Win8.1.

Loving having my buttons back!!!

Re: New trackpad WITH BUTTONS - INSTALLED!!!

Thanks everyone! I followed the instructions and it was near perfect. The $103+shipping was a steep pricetag for me, so I ordered just the trackpad itself from an ebay seller for about $60 with free shipping. As many have said, the latest drivers doesn't work (X250, Yoga 12, X1 Carbon, T450s, etc) as they somehow read the new trackpad as the old buttonless version, rendering it useless. The recommended driver wasn't flawless though, as I get occasional missing cursors or unresponsive trackpoint when playing around with settings, hopefully Lenovo will provide updated drivers that will work for such a unique combination of trackpad and S1.

Here's an image of my succesful replacement!

Hi Guys,

How can I disable the touchpad at all. -> I'd like to use the trackpad/trackpoint only. (T440 with T450 clickpad - synaptics)

Thanks!

Hi there, it doesn't look apparent glass, like shiny, reflective, like
smartphone display. It's just mat, very smooth surface. But I'm not 100%
confident. How can I exactly tell plastic from glass? Either way actually I
personally don't care at all because I don't use pad at all :-)

I've never used the TrackPoint/Buttons, so that doesn't matter to me, but is the actual clicking mechanism of the touchpad better on this upgraded unit vs the original? I find it really shallow and inconsistent as it is now.

Re: Switch ThinkPad Yoga Clickpad with new TrackPad

As far as I can tell, this is the correct Lenovo part, yes, direct from HK on Ebay.  The clicking and tracking of the trackpad are no different in terms of click quality or "loudness" than the original one that came with the laptop.   All that said, if you are crazy enough to do this project, it is because you love the TrackPOINT and want the buttons to go with it.  So I'm a bit confused that anyone - on this thread at least - is using the trackpad at all after going to all that effort to get trackpoint buttons back.
