Re: Tablet Mode and Touch Screen Not Working After Hardware Upgrade

Thinkpad Yoga 11E 20D9

I upgraded the RAM and SSD as per this thread:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/RAM-and-HDD-Upgrades-Questions/m-p/3622355#M15724

Since that was done, I installed Windows 10 and Office Professional.

Now, I have no tablet mode or touchscreen. I have updated all the drivers and BIOS and etc that was suggested in the Lenovo scan. It did nothing to resolve the issue. I searched for previous posts of the same problem and none of the solutions worked either. Note: I do not have anything pertaining to touchscreen in Human Interface in Device Manager and tablet mode is enabled under settings.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks so much.

Re: Tablet Mode and Touch Screen Not Working After Hardware Upgrade

Ok... I SOLVED it! Whew.

The tablet always worked, it just didn't seem so because the touch screen did not.

It was not an HID device at all. It was the Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Controller. But, no matter what driver i tried to install, the system just reinstalled the same drivers.  After 48 hours of trying everything a google search found for me, in addition to the help in this thread...  This is what finally worked for me. I hope it works for everyone, I know how incredibly frustrating it is to have computer issues. I have made a little tutorial for anyone who has the problem in future.

Hey again,

Just skip that installation file and try to install the other ones and also if possible share the snaps for Windows properties.

I rebooted and was able to install all that you linked to. Nothing changed. Still have no tablet mode, no touchscreen.

Is this what you want me to share?

Re: Tablet Mode and Touch Screen Not Working After Hardware Upgrade

Thanks for the snaps, please check Human Interface in Device Manager as Windows properties shows touch support utp 2 fingers.

And also go through this & this thread & update us how it goes.

Re: Tablet Mode and Touch Screen Not Working After Hardware Upgrade

I do not have anything in Device Manager Human Interface. And I don't see how the other two links pertain to my problem. I don't have the orientation option. And my issue is that I don't even have a tablet mode, or a touch screen so those links don't help me.

thanks.

Re: Tablet Mode and Touch Screen Not Working After Hardware Upgrade

Hey again,

From the above posts & images I can see that there are some devices in Human Interface Devices & Touch support with 2 Touch points in Windows properties below the attached images:

Try to uninstall all the drivers present in Human Interface Devices and also here the latest BIOS update for your system.

The BIOS did not update. See pic below. Also, after uninstalling the drivers, the same drivers are just reinstalled. Are there other drivers to be installed? I appreciate your time and your help. To be honest, I am almost want to just throw the machine off the roof. Haha.
