Hi Chris,

Kindly update us and give us a review of the pen as soon you get your TP yoga 14 and let us know how many days did it take to ship your order.

Thanks

JC

Re: ThinkPad Yoga 14: wacom digitizer?

Hi guys I'm back :) finally after 21 days the laptop arrived.
First look: Awesome! Everything's fast and smooth, had no problems rendering stuff in Premiere Pro/ Cinema 4d and doing regular work in Photoshop or lightroom.
The pen: It's definitely a wacom pen, since there is a special app for defining the two buttons and sensitivity of the pen (App is called "wacom pen"). Sadly there is no rubber tip at the end but you'll get used to it. Just hold and press a button. I'm sure there will be other types of pens in the future.
I'm actually pretty pleased with the pen, it's very accurate and acts very fast. Best thing about it: It's pressure sensitive! Although (of course) not as precise as my intuos pen. I haven't used it with a specialised apps for drawing yet but I definitely will (I'll tell you about it then).
@tony2009 I didn't try it yet, but I suppose it won't work. The Lenovo pen needs an AAAA - battery, whereas my intuos doesn't. I don't think the laptop really has an active wacom digitizer like the old surface pro. In system info it only says: "Pen and Full Windows Touch Support with 10 Touch Points" and I don't find any information about a standalone digitizer. Anyway, I'll give the intuos pen a try when I'm home :) I'll keep you updated!

The only problem I have with the Laptop, is that the left click-pad of the trackpad isn't always working, which is kind of annoying. I always have to press twice before it works.
I'm not sure if I should send the laptop in for repair because I'll leave the country on the 17th of July. (I'm a German backpacker) I assume Lenovo won't send the laptop to my address in Germany, since I only got the Australian Warranty..
Cheers,
Chris

@mrspock I don't think so. There is no info about the active pen. Better check the official website about it :)
Cheers,
Chris

Hey Chris,

I sent Lenovo an Email regarding whether I could purchase international warranty for the Thinkpad Yoga 14 and the response I got was:

"Our ThinkPad series includes international warranty"  thus you should be able to get the click pad fixed back home...

Cheers, Calus

Hi guys, how is the Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM009GUS) + wacom active pen for editing photos in photoshop? Is comparable to a Wacom Intuos/Bacoom for example?

Re: ThinkPad Yoga 14: wacom digitizer?

2015-12-12, 22:39 PM

Hi there , ive read all these posts reguarding the thinkpad yoga 14 having a wacom digitizer ? or not ,,& with what pen will work ?  ive been researching tablet / laptop combos for the last several months for my daughter for xmas , she is an artists ,  & wants it for drawing , but also needs it to function as a school laptop . i too looked @ the surface pro 3 & 4 after extensive reasearch we've decided on the yoga 14 anyhow i found a site that offers alot of info on these questions . here is the site  , ( http://www.tabletsforartists.com/ ) . this is what they say , there are only 2 actual models that come with the wacom digitizers & Best Buy has them both on clearance right now 1 for $819. & 1 for $869. , also they have , " Open Box Options " which is about $100. cheaper , & just means it was either used as a store display , or has been returned with in 14 days & has been checked & certified that it is in brand new condition , no scuffs , or scratches & is still covered by all original 1 year wwarranty . model # ( 20DM008UUS) WHICH IS THE CHEAPER  OF THE 2 RUNS WINDOWS 8.1 WHILE THE OTHER HAS WINDOWS 10 , ( 20DM007GUS ) they reccomend the Think pad Active Capacitive Pen , or the Fujitsu T500 Pen , Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 review: a twist of Wacom ES |

If you go to see this computer and want to see that it actually has Wacom, simply type the word Wacom into the Windows search box and the Wacom Pen icon will pop up in the search results.Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 review: a twist of Wacom ES |

To get pressure sensitivity, you must use the ThinkPad Active Capacitive Pen. (Since this is multitouch, you can use any old capacitive stylus–such as for the iPad–on this, but with no pressure sensitivity).

Here is the link for the pen on the Lenovo site.

The pen takes an AAAA battery. It has two programmable buttons. It also has a tether that attaches to the laptop.

On Amazon and other sites, there is something called the Lenovo ThinkPad Active Digitizer Pen. Do not buy that. That is a traditional Wacom pen and will work on the ThinkPad Yoga 12, but not on the 14. The name is very confusing. To make things even more confusing, there is an earlier version of the 14 that has no active digitizer. So be sure you are getting this 2nd-generation model. There is also a Yoga 15 without the digitizer, and one with the digitizer is coming up. Best Buy and Lenovo are not much help with providing info on what pen goes with what. The Lenovo Web site contains very little info. Lenovo’s Helix pens will also not work on the ThinkPad Yoga 14.

ok ... well hope this helps answer every bodies questions ... good luck ! (0:

OMG!!!  I am so glad I read this because I had no clue that my computer came with the pen.  This is so exciting.  I just found it tucked away in a slot, left side, near the front.  This is such a great computer!!!  Thanks for this information.  I would have never know this.
