Re: Thinkpad Yoga - trouble with cursor jumping and closing programs

Your comment didn't contain DOS.

I will try covering the touchpad to see if that helps and report back. Might be easier if it disabled when the lid was closed, if that was the cause; or if it was possible to manually disable it.

Pity Lenovo hasn't been very useful.

This thread is marked being solved. I doubt Lenovo will ever have a look into this one again. I created a new thread one month ago, still no reply: ThinkPad Yoga + OneLink Pro = jumping cursor

Erratic mouse, jumpy mouse

2015-02-06, 20:05 PM

I thought it was a Windows 8 issue so I blanked the harddrive and I loaded Windows 7 Pro and  the same sh!t happens.  Mouse jumps all over the place!!

I would never spend a nickle of my own $$$ with Lenovo after this.  Here it is Feburaury 2015 and there is still no fix!!!

Seems like Lenovo has had erratic mouse issues for years.

One thing I did with my Yoga laptop, when I'm using my docking station, and the lid is closed, I put a paper over the keyboard, and it seems to stop the problem, indicating it may be a touchpad or keyboard sensitivity issue?

I think it may have something to do with the problems you are having, but Lenovo recently released a bios upgrade for these things that had in the release notes the fact that it now turns the touchscreen off when the lid is closed.  I imagine it was on before when closed before, and sensed touches randomly (I noticed this in testing when I pushed on the top of the lid, and saw on an external monitor the little circles appear that mean windows is saying "you're touching the screen here".  Here are the release notes: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gquj16ww.txt  you can see the statement in several of the "problem fixes" sections (guess they're still working on it?)

Dear Mark,

this topic:

and this one:

describe the same issue.

Could you merge them?

BIOS update from February 2015 (1.23) does not help!

The update for Bios 1.23 did not stop the cursor from moving and selecting things for me either!

I have tried everything, even reinstalling my operating system, disengaging everything associated with the touch screen and trackpad.

This is ridiculous!

Did you try to replace the display by Lenovo service? This would be my next step except we can find a solution...

Re: Thinkpad Yoga - trouble with cursor jumping and closing programs

2015-04-09, 21:30 PM

Thought I would provide a little more information to try and stir the pot.

We have roughly 30-40 lenovo yoga thinkpad yogas in our environment. Every laptop I've worked on has experienced this same issue. Below are the symptoms were seeing.

1. closing the laptop lid and using external monitors causes eradic cursor movement and clicking

2. it appears that the cursor moves to the right-hand side of the screen and clicking at the same time (often opening the charms menu or opening the date/time on the taskbar

3. This problem occurs while using the onelink dock as well as other 'displaylink' branded docks. This also occurs when plugging up monitors directly to the laptop

4. tested all current bios and driver releases using the 'system update' software recommended by lenovo to no avail.

5. if you leave the laptop lid open and disable the laptop lcd through 'windows+p', this problem doesn't seem to occur.

Starting to think there is a design flaw with this model. I think lenovo is aware of the problem considering the notes on the latest bios update and the touchpad driver update. I'm just not sure they know whats causing it just yet.
