Re: WiFi connectivity issue - ThinkPad Twist

2013-01-19, 5:18 AM

Came here looking for a thread such as this. I am having constant Wifi dropouts on my Twist. Never had a problem with other laptops on my network. Have gone back and tried other devices to confirm it is just the Twist. And it is just the Twist.

My network adapter is listed as 2x2 11 a/b/g/n Wireless Lan.  My driver is Broadcom 6.30.59.26. I have to go into airplane mode and back to get it going again every 15 minutes. On occasion, it will go for an hour straight.  Very very annoying.  It often has a hard time resolving web pages as well. I have turned off power management for the device and that has not helped.

Any ideas?

Actually there is NO good solution for this, installing intel driver with PROset will only delay wifi drop from 15 minutes to 1 or more hours, but problem is still there (sometimes I have to reboot because even flight mode cant help). I am seriously thinking about returning this crap and buying something else. Twist is really great concept, the best we can buy now but this wifi drop problem make this ultrabook unusable...

Re: WiFi connectivity issue - ThinkPad Twist

We have three thinkpad twist laptops, specifically type 3347-2HU.  They all have Windows 8 pro from factory, the wireless network adapter is 2x2 11 a/b/g/n Wireless Lan, and the driver is Broadcom 6.30.59.26.  The hardware id is PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4359&SUBSYS_060714E4&REV_00.

Straight from the box, I have not been able to get any of the three laptops to connect to a WPA2-personal, AES wireless network with a password.  They can see it, but keep saying that the password is incorrect (even though I have verified that it is correct).  They can see and connect to an unsecured wireless network also through the same AP.  These are the only wireless network cards I have come across that will not connect to this wireless network.

Out of frustration, I downgraded one to Windows 7 Pro and am happily able to connect to the wireless AP.

This seems like a driver problem.  I looked through the postings, but could not find any resolution regarding the Broadcom network card.

I am having the same problem with this laptop. It will not connect to a network using WPA2-Enterprise, or even an open network.

Interesting Intel and Broadcom cards are having the same issue.  It is quite annoying.  I am tying various advanced settings in the device manager to see if they can help.

Hi All,

Can everyone supply me with this info?

-What wireless router are you connecting to?
-What WLAN card are you using?
-And, do any other devices connect to the network?

Just gathering information to see if there's a common factor.

Thanks everyone!

Hi dmckenzies. In response to your request for info:

Router/modem: Netgear (Virginmedia Superhub)

WLAN: Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Other devices. All other devices including T400, earlier R series, a Dell laptop (these placed in the same position as the Twist is used), a Panasonic TV and even a Kodak all in one printer all connect wirelessly to the modem and thence to the internet, perfectly. Only the Twist cannot manage 30 minutes without dropping out.

Try to uninstall the Intel utility and use windows to manage the connection. This is how I fixed my wife's Dell laptop. It was dropping every hour or so, but it would get much worse during Skype, and would disconnect after 5 minutes.
