I just enountered this problem on my ThinkPad T420s running Windows 7x64.
After installing Microsoft updates from 12 August 2014 Patch Tuesday,
my machine reboots to blue screen, and then reboots to the 2100 error.
My storage device is a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO running the latest Samsung firmware
so updating device firmware isn't a solution.
There's nothing wrong with my system, as confirmed by Lenovo Diagnostics,
including Advanced memory diagnostics.
The work-around I've found is to enter BIOS Setup with F1, and then F10 to Save and Exit,
whereupon the system reboots normally. This presumably resets the BIOS, suggesting this
is a ThinkPad BIOS issue.
I'm now working to isolate the Microsoft updates that are causing the blue screen problem.
Thus far both KB2970228 and KB2980245 appear to be suspect.
I've been able to recover from blue screens with Startup Repair and System Restore.

Hi JNavas,
What happens if you enter BIOS and just exit without saving?
My WAG is that what you're actually doing is giving the SSD more power-on time to initialize internally before it gets probed. The save-and-exit reboot may not be a full power cycle.
Just a WAG but I have seen this on other SSDs. In that case (Crucial) a firmware update fixed things.

Exiting BIOS Setup without saving (by means of the menu) appears to work, although it's hard to say for sure because the issue isn't 100% repeatable. I use F10 because it's fast, not because it does a save. I think the primary factor is probably just entering BIOS Setup rather than how you exit it.
Regardeless, I doubt this is an SSD issue where it needs more time, since
The blue screen and forced power off is probably leaving the BIOS in an unusual state. Drive firmware update appearing to help may simply be coincidental. When the BIOS is behaving normally again, I suspect the old SSD firmware would also work. As I said before, I think this is probably a ThinkPad BIOS issue.

I've just hit this problem on my X1 Carbon (SanDisk SSD). I think -- but I'm not certain because I haven't been using the machine very much recently before this week -- that the trouble may have started after installing BIOS 2.70 at the beginning of this week. The machine reboots normally after powering off. A quick diagnostic run shows no errors; I'll be running the full diagnostics later today.

We had this issue with more and more of our 450 brand new bought Lenovo S1 Yoga devices. After searching the internet and phoning around with a lot of Lenovo people someone from lenovo sent us this link:

In short words - if you have a wrong combination of Chipset and IRST driver you may encounter those problems.
We installed the mentioned driver combination on our devices 3 days ago and since that point we had no reports about this problem. Let's keep the fingers crossed that this is the solution.

About a year ago I had a similar problem with my Lenovo W530 (Intel SSD Drive). Lenovo changed almost every part of the computer. My problem was static electrical changed hdd. The problem was a hdd cover that was designed in the wrong way. The easy solution was bending the two small metal parts at the hdd cover so they coould touch the hdd. This will remove static electrical charge from the hdd. This problem also generated some multi color flickering of the screen.

I was brought a Laptop T430 with this error this morning. I went online to see what was out there, however nothing I tried from all the solutions worked. There was a good post on youtube -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiWFEhsVQ0E. However my one did not come up with the quick device storage test and it would not work
I decided to reboot the Laptop and press 'F12' to see if it would bring up the boot menu as in Dells.
It brought up several options of which one of them specified the HD itsself.
As soon as I selected this option and pressed the enter key, it started to boot in to windows. The Laptop booted up fine. I have sinced restarted and started from cold boot and it seems fine.
It seems that there maybe various fixes for this error. So take the fix I tried as another one. See if it works for you.
Thank you

I have a Lenovo Twist. On the HDD plate cover the spring can be faulty and not apply enough pressure to the echip (small washer on the screw of the plate) to properly ground the hard drive and complete the connection effectively when screwed back in place. Keeping the spring in place I took a small piece of wire jacket from a small wire that fit snug in the screw below the threads and placed it as a spacer under the echip to remedy this issue. Initially I replaced the hard drive only to have the error come up again however once I applied this fix it is back to normal.
