Boot Up Errors: 0187, 2200, 2201 on my Thinkpad Yoga

So I'm just ONE month out of warranty and this issue has popped up one random day when turning on my computer. It happens at every reboot, and I have since lost functionality of my touchpad and my keyboard backlighting (though the function key heads-up display shows the proper icons like it is working). I also lost function of my wireless internet though I was able to resolve that by re-downloading the driver.

I saw one forum post regarding this issue, but nothing looked like it got resolved. Anyone know how to deal with this? Also, I tried using Lenovo's software and it thinks I don't have a real Lenovo computer.

Re: Boot Up Errors: 0187, 2200, 2201 on my Thinkpad Yoga

Hi

I'm just checking the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your model.
https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/s1_yoga_hmm_en_sp40a26742_01.pdf

The errors don't say much and it looks like bad news:

0187
EAIA data access error
Replace the system board.

2200
Machine Type and Serial Number are invalid.
Replace the system board.

2201
Machine UUID is invalid
Replace the system board.

Is your machine complete useless or does it boot from time to time?

So, the manual says that you should replace the system board. If the machine boots and If you are under a "Nothing to lose" situation, I would try to reflash the BIOS with a bootable CD, but that is under your own risk and.... I don't know, something horrible may happen and render your machine unusable or maybe it would do no harm but it will not improve your situation.

I'm sorry I don't have any other way to help you.

Regards

Re: Boot Up Errors: 0187, 2200, 2201 on my Thinkpad Yoga

My computer works fine except that the touchpad doesn't work at all and the keyboard backlighting doesn't work. The stylus works, and everything else works. I'm a bit frustrated that I am one month out of warranty and I may have to replace the motherboard. If that is the case, I'll stick it out with this for two more years and move on to a Surface.

I have exactly the same problem as yours. Since the system recognize machine type and serial number, the device is not Lenovo device anymore.

This problem happened while I'm installing the latest Windows 10, 1511 update. I then rollback to previous version, but the problem still persist.

Really hope if anyone can help in this.

Hi VicentChee

Can you specify the model number (Complete number) of you Thinkpad Yoga?

I will only try to see if there is a BIOS update on the Lenovo support site and try updating it.

After that I think that the only thing will be to contact Lenovo, get a ticket and see what they say about your machine. If you are under warranty it should be covered, otherwise they may charge you to replace the board.

Re: Boot Up Errors: 0187, 2200, 2201 on my Thinkpad Yoga

Hi VincentChee.

Your model number shows me on the support site that the latest BIOS is 1.27 from 10/19/2015

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

If you don't have it installed maybe you can try to update it and see what happens. But if the error remains there you should send your machine to Lenovo.  Please read carefull the BIOS update instruccions, it's an easy but critical procedure.

Re: Boot Up Errors: 0187, 2200, 2201 on my Thinkpad Yoga

Hi,

could anyone solve that problem meanwhile without changing hardware?

Have the problem since las week. It happened suddenly without hardware or software modification.

In additon the touchpad and trackpoint is out of order.

I use Windows 10, BIOS Version 1.27. Product-Type is 20CD00E9GE.

Noticed that there is a BIOS-Update for Version 1.28 and thinking to try it (I am not a power user) but first wanted to see if anyone has a new help.

Unfortunately I am out of warranty for 6 months.

Regards
