Dead ThinkPad Yoga S1 (Model 20CD), Please Help?!

Hello Everyone!

My ThinkPad Yoga was my daily laptop for years until it stopped charging.

I replaced the wall adapter in hopes that it would be a cheap, easy fix, but that didn't work any better than the original one. It won't turn on and the red charging LED (the dot on the i of the ThinkPad logo) doesn't light up anymore. I'm waaaaay out of warranty so I'll need to replace any needed parts on my own.

Where do I start for troubleshooting this?

Here's a list of steps I've tried without success:

  • Emergency reset hole
  • Disconnected and reconnected the MB cable
  • Disconnected and reconnected the battery
  • Tried to boot with AC connected while battery was disconnected

Start by unplugging the AC power supply, then use a paperclip etc. to press and hold the emergency reset button on the bottom of the laptop for 5-10 seconds.     Once completed, reconnect the power and see if it boots.

Best of luck,

I've tried this, still no power and no light on the "i".

I got it!

I unplugged the AC, then removed the CMOS battery for a few minutes, then pressed the power button ten times, then held it for 30 seconds for good measure, then put the battery back in.

It booted right up! Smiley Very Happy
