Hello mosswoodpark,
Upon start-up repeatedly press Enter at the Lenovo splash screen, this should give you the interrupt start-up menu. There should be an option to enter BIOS from this menu. If the little circle of dots shows at the bottom of the Lenovo tag then the Operating System is loading and you will have to attempt again. If you hear a beep or you see a sentence at the bottom of the Lenovo tag at start-up then it has worked. I did successfully load BIOS after a couple of tries.
Hope this helps,
Alex

This didn't work for me. Neither did F1, F2, F10 or F11. Yikes - is there no other way to do this???
I've tried tapping slowly, fast, holding the key down; and starting right after the pressing power and waiting for the Lenovo logo. Maybe I just don't know how to press a key. Help?

Try it from a Windows 8 "restart," not from a Windows 8 "shutdown." That works for me.

Hey there ems123,
With machines using Windows 8 you have to completely power down your machine. When you click shutdown regularly, Windows 8 doesn't really shut down the laptop completely, but puts it into hibernation state. This is called "hybrid shutdown", and was invented to speedup subsequent Windows startup.. When shutting down, hold down your shift key while clicking shut down. This should power your machine all the way down.
When you start the computer back up, immediately start hitting the enter key to go to the interrupt startup menu. I believe it is F1 for bios. I hope this helps!
