Intel Driver Update - Bluetooth & Wireless not working anymore

2014-06-29, 17:32 PM

Hello,

trying to upgrade my Thinkpad Yoga to the most recent drivers I made the unfortunate mistake running the Intel Driver Update utility on the intel website (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect) and install the most recent drivers.

Now Bluetooth doesn't work anymore (it doesn't find my wireless headphones), the system gets reproducibly slower and finally hangs after a few hours, and I have 5 "unknown devices" in the Device Manager:

"Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter"

"Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_BTHPAN\...)

"Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_BTHBRB\...)

"Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_BTHLE\...)

"Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_RFCOMM\...)

This is a pain, the machine is my main development machine and it took me over a week to fully set it up. I really really really do not want to go through that again. Does anyone have any ideas how to fully remove the Intel drivers and start from scratch without reinstalling?

To me it also looks like part of the MS bluetooth stack went missing - the Bluetooth adapter is correctly setup, but it appears that Windows cannot find the drivers for the Bluetooth peripheral devices.

I've been throuh the Device Manager uninstall for the Wireless (it's a 7260AC) + Bluetooth drivers including "Remove drivers" checked , uninstall through "Add/remove programs", lots and lots of reboots in between, disabling/reenabling bluetooth in the BIOS, disabling the battery to make sure everything is properly reset, but nothing helped.

I was also planning to ask on the Intel site but when I try to login to their community it locks up in an infinite redirect loop :(

Any ideas would be highly appreciated.
