Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Ghost Touches

Hi Everyone,

A few days after I received my TPY 15 with Windows 10, it began to register random ghost touches which close and open windows, pause videos and such.

It typically happens when I power up the computer (startup, coming back from sleep/hibernation), I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem and if there's a solution.

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Ghost Touches

Hi

Can you please post the complete model number of your TP Yoga 15?

I don't have that one, but will it be something similar to this thread?

Do you actually see on Windows the "animation" of the touch screen being used?...that circle animation that Windows shows when you touch the screen ?

Regards

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Ghost Touches

Hi

I was just checking other threads about "Ghost Touches", there is no final word about it.

There was a suggestion that it may happened when you close the lid and the touchpad driver was not disabling it self, but I notice your model does not the Synaptics touchpad.

Do you want to give it a try on updating your ALPS and Wacom drivers to see what happens?

There are the drivers listed here:

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

Check out:

- Alps UltraNav Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad Yoga 15

- WinTab Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (64-bit), 7 (32bit, 64bit) - ThinkPad Yoga 15

- Active Pen Low Battery Notifier for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad

Sorry, it is just "trial and error" but it may work.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Ghost Touches

Hey,

Thanks for all the help.

I've tried your solutions, but none to avail.

I'm actually wondering if it's a hardware (such as the digitiser) problem as sometimes when I move the screen it happens.

Also, at the lower end of the screen, right where the vents are. The part attached to the hinge in the middle is a bit bent, thought this was a design feature for the 360 screen, but sceptical now.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Ghost Touches

Hi

By any chance can you check the hardware id of your Thinkpad monitor on Windows Device Manager?

It will look something similar to that, please share the model that shows up there.

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Ghost Touches

JumppyJA,

I have the same Yoga 15 as you with the same touchscreen hardware ID and the same ghost touch issue. I had called Lenovo a couple of hours ago and they are aware of this problem.

The Lenovo Rep stated that the laptop LCD/LED screen would need to be replaced with another brand/type and the options would be to ship back to them or go to a local Lenovo service center. I'm not sure I want to do this as I loaded everything onto this Yoga 15 that I purchased a month ago and do not want to unload all of my sensitive data, etc. In the meantime, I disabled the touchscreen as the ghost touches happened every day for me.

The Rep was not saying much but when I asked him what is the problem with the original screen, he stated nothing is wrong and it is just the "characteristics" of the LCD/LED. I aksed what do you mean by characteristics and his analogy was a person having fickles. This is a bit disturbing as my guess, they are told to say it's a "characteristics" issue, but cannot explain the actually problem. I told him if the screen needs to be replaced, then it is defective, etc.

I was hoping that the issue would be software but it sounds like if you want it fixed, you're going to have to give up your laptop for a few weeks as they are saying it's a hardware problem. But then again, who knows what the Reps are feeding customers with this issue.
