Missing HDD password options

Hi,

Setting up Lenovo Yoga. Opened up BIOS, Security and then Password, there is no Hard Disk1 Password settings present for user nor master.

Where have these settings gone? How can they be returned or how I can set passwords for hdd?

Re: Missing HDD password options

Is this a new machine?  What is the 4-character model?

Re: Missing HDD password options

It sounds like you have a supervisor (BIOS) password set.  You need to get it from whoever sold you the machine.

Re: Missing HDD password options

Thanks for reply.

Supervisor password is disabled. I can log and modify all settings in the BIOS menu.

Re: Missing HDD password options

Hit F9 to load BIOS defaults.  The only other reason I can think of is that the disk in the machine doesn't support it.  What kind of disk is it?  What is the BIOS version?

Re: Missing HDD password options

I can only assume that disk just doesn't support it.  Do you have a way to try a different model of drive?

Re: Missing HDD password options

MZ7TD256HAFV is a SATA eDrive from 2013.  HDD password options in BIOS Setup disappear when Windows takes ownership of the drive during OS installation.  If you want to set HDD password, you will need to do a process called "PSID revert" which will wipe drive contents.  Then you can set HDD password and re-install Windows.
