Hi all,
I have the same problem with my Thinkpad Yoga S1 type 20CD, running on Windows 8.1 with the BIOS B0ET20ww (1.07).
This feature isn't written in the new functionalities of the latest BIOS, so I guess an update is useless for this problem up to now.
Since I have noticed that this problem concerns quite a lot if people, and that it seems that on all other machines it is solvable just by changing the option in the BIOS, or even in the driver of the keyboard in the case of an external Lenovo keyboard, I want to ask you: Is it possible for Lenovo to make this functionality back in the last update of either the BIOS or the keyboard options?
Best regards.

Hi,
I have a Lenovo thinkpad yoga s1,
i am always on fnLk (i need the fn keys), and i use the end button a lot (a programmer).
before the last update, the End button was not affected by the fnLk and it was great!
but now, the default functionality of this button is like the rest of the fn keys, which making it by default the insert function.
is there any way to switch only this button around?
this is very annoying.
thanks,
Roi.

Hi Roikatz,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per your query we understood that you are facing the issue with Function keys on ThinkPad Yoga S1.
To resolve the issue you have to swap the keyboard function from BIOS, for that you have enter to BIOS and under configuration tab click on Keyboard/Mouse and click on Enable on Fn and Ctrl key swap, and press F10 to save and exit.
Also you can change it by pressing Fn+Esc key to swap temporarily.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hello hemanth_lenovo,
I think the issue that roikatz has is a different one, and I have the same. With the current BIOS
The problem is that F1-F12 are used much more often than the special keys like brightness up/down, and the End key is used much more often than Insert. So for productivity we need both F1-F12 and the End key at the same time.
This could be easily solved by having the End/Insert key not affected by Fn-Lock, so it is always End unless Fn is pressed at the same time. This would be a very useful change.

terrafly is right.

Hi All,
Thank you for the reply!
If the Fn key expected to be used frequently by ThinkPad owners in order to be productive? Not only are they switched, but there is even the option to lock the Fn key (Fn + Esc) so that you can use Cltr keys exclusively.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,

Hello Hermanth,
the problem is that we need the F1-F12 keys AND the "end" key WITHOUT pressing Fn. Having to press Fn+End every time one wants to move to the end of the line, or alternatively having to press combinations like Fn+Alt+F4 gets very tiring.
This has been reported as a problem by many people and also on other models see

I can't imagine that the current behavior is desired, it just looks like an overlook. It would be really good to see this fixed in the next BIOS version. It's very easy to implement and would be a big productivity boost.

Hi Terrafly,
I am sorry for the situation and I understand your concern, regarding this I want to inform you that the design of the laptop keyboard keys cannot be swapped individually, and it is having only two options to change the Fn keys and Ctrl keys.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar
