Shift Key not working on Thinkpad Yoga

2015-01-26, 17:28 PM

Hi, all.  I've got the 12inch thinkpad yoga.  The left shift key works intermittently.  This started happening to me a couple of weeks ago (I've had the computer since December and haven't noticed a problem.  I sent it in twice and supposedly, they replaced the whole machine this last time, but I'm still having the problem.  Could this be a fault in this model in general? Or am I just doing something wrong?  I've never had a problem typing before... I'm a programmer and if I can't reliably type a ( without accidentally typing a 9, it makes my job extremely frustrating.

Perhaps I'm just not pressing hard enough, but the key makes the clack noise and is fully depressed, yet does not register when typing.

If I call and complain a 3rd time, can I just get a full refund?  I paid over $1500 for this computer and if I keep sending it in and they replace it with another faulty version of the same computer, I'll never get to use it and eventually the warranty will expire and I'll be screwed.

Struggled all day with this and stumbled upon the solution.  The cause was that whenever the trackpad was touched, the shift key would not function.  So, while typing, if my palm touched the trackpad, it would turn shift off, even if the palm-check feature was enabled.  I never would have suspected the touchpad since the symptom was a malfunctioning keyboard.

Solution: Updated the ultranav driver and it seems to have been fixed. So weird.

Does it seem to happen if you're using multiple keys at the same time?
