ThinkPad S1 Yoga 12 doesn't always turn on

2017-09-15, 16:29 PM

Hello and thank you in advance for any help

I have bought a refurbished ThinkPad S1 Yoga 12 20DL and I love it so far. Unfortunately it does not turn on from time to time corretcly. When I start it, I can see the Lenovo logo but not loading circle appears and Windows does not start. On the other hand it sometimes starts smoothly and there is no problem at all. I had already run the uefi hardware tests with no error found.

Dou you have any idea how to solve that? Thank You!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Maybe it can be interesting to check the following:

1) Check the integrity of the Windows system files. Here it is an article on how to use "sfc /scannow"

2) I also like to maintain the drivers updated with "Lenovo Companion".

3) Check also that you are on the latest BIOS version from the support site of your model. Sometimes there are intersting compatility updated on that.

Let's give a try that, and let's see if that help.

Hi,

thank you for this advice. Unfortunately, the problem is not solved with that. sfc /scannow did not find any errors and I have already installed the newest drivers with Lenovo Companion. According to the support site I do also have the newest BIOS version installed.

In addition due to the need to manually shut down the computer every time Windows ist not loading, I now see the info that the disk has to be checked every boot but it does not happen (It says 8 seconds until the check starts and then skips it without any input). I started chkdsk manually with no error found but I still get the message that it is run every boot.

I hope there might be another answer to this.
