ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

Is there no Lenovo Power Management software for the ThinkPad Yoga? I liked the application. I noticed on the regular Yoga 2, there is an Energy Manager app.

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If you are using Windows 8/8.1, I’m sorry to inform that Power manager doesn’t exist for the above said operating systems. Energy management is designed to work for Ideapads and ThinkPads are supported with a set of applications called Lenovo Think Vantage Toolbox. Unfortunately, Lenovo had to withdraw power manager for its ThinkPad models due to certain conflicts with Windows 8/8.1.

Hope this clarified your query!

Best regards,

Mithun.

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

Mithunr,

If this is the case, then why is there a version installed on the Yoga 2?

What makes that application so different?

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

Hi,

ThinkPad yoga should not be confused with the Ideapad series devices of the same name, like Yoga 2.

ThinkPad laptops are Lenovo's professional-grade models. They are known for their business-like good looks, strong build quality and reliability. Ideapad represents Lenovo's lifestyle selection of notebooks, which means they are tailored to offer home entertainment features and swift performance that home users and students can take advantage of.

As I’ve already told, energy management is designed for Ideapad models and Think Vantage toolbox (which includes Power manager) is designed for ThinkPad models.

Best regards,

Mithun.

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

Your arrogance is really irritating. Your assumption that I am not someone familiar with the Lenovo product line was a mistake.

You have insulted a loyal Lenovo customer.

Considering the Idea and Think product lines often share similar technology, it is not unreasonable to believe or assume if a power management application can provide benefit to a consumer class product, it could provide a similar benefit to the Enterprise customer.

That being said, thank you for "attempting" to help.

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

Hi Jrainey,

I owe you a sincere apology.

I hope that I can be of assistance in correcting my mistake. It was never done intentionally.

While I have caused this unpleasant experience, I am able to see where I went wrong. I believe acquiring this insight will allow me to learn and grow and prevent similar issues in the future.

Please feel free to post back in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries.

Thanks for being a part of Lenovo Family.

Sincerely,

Mithun.

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

On my Yoga I can't find the settings of the Vantage Toolbox. Where can I open this? I didn't change anything of the original setup..

@Mithunr

When there is no PowerManager for the Thinkpad Yoga, why is it available in the download-area for the thinkpad Yoga:

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

Hi AP0LL0N and jrainey,

There are 3 pieces of software:

  1. The Lenovo Power Management Driver, required for all versions of Windows.
  2. The Lenovo Power Manager softwareavailable for Windows 7 and prior.
  3. In Windows 8/8.1, the Lenovo Settings app, used to manage power settings.

Your screen shot shows #1, the driver, always required. The Power Manager is not available for Windows 8/8.1.

Hope this helps!

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

@Mithun, wow, thank you for your comments above.

Everyone else... I love the details here. One thing I am noticing, is the fact Windows Power Management isn't really that developed. Lenovo saw this as an area to improve.

I'm not sure if we'll ever see the Lenovo Power Manager return. And, that's okay. I was just surprised that the consumer version of the Yoga would have a power management application.

Great thread...

Cheers,

JIM

Re: ThinkPad Yoga: No Lenovo Power Manager?

I still can't find this vantage toolbox on my system =(

Maybe it's not installed by Lenovo before shipping? Where can I download it? Don't see it in the driver and software area..

When I open in the Windows 8 Metro "Lenovo Settings" the "Power-settings" I can only change there USB-always on in "on/off".

This can't be meant serious?!? Smiley Sad
