ThinkPad Yoga - touchscreen dead spots on lower corners

2014-09-22, 13:09 PM

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago I noticed that my touchscreen doesn't respond at all in two areas. Others have reported the same problem, and ended up getting a replacement of the laptop. I have the same dead spots as in the other link, also got my screen replaced, and still have the problem.

Does anyone know a solution? I'd hate to send in my Yoga again for what must be the 4th time.

Also, for how long is it possible to get a refund? I bought my Yoga a year ago and actually like the machine. I always hoped for the next repair or replacement to bring me a perfectly working laptop, but sadly never had one.

Edit: The spots are moving! Sometimes when I reboot/wake the PC up from sleep, they are in other places than before. Seems like the display definitely isn't the problem. I also tested the touchscreen on Ubuntu to rule out driver problems, same thing there.

Thanks in advance!

Lenovo just put a new panel in my Yoga to fix the ghosting problem.  But, just noticed I have the exact same problem you're describing now.  Dead spot in each of the bottom corners.  Definitely wasn't a problem before with my original display panel.  Very frustrating!

Same problem here. Screen replaced can't fix this problem. There are 2 spots at bottom left and right. My laptop is in service center for 1 month now. They don't know how to fix this problem.

Is there any hope to fix this problem?

If you have a solution, please let me know.

After my second screen replacement, I now have the SPB2 panel... still with ghosting, flickering at grey sreens, and two touch-dead-spots at the Bottom of the screen.

Yep, my yoga is at the repair depot for a third time in a row.  Ghosting screen, a dead spot in each bottom corner.  Last time they sent it off to their HQ to be evaluated by their "top engineer" and it came back still broken and without the covers over the screws.

I feel for you.  The service depot finally said they couldn't fix it after the third try.  Lenovo then tried to refund me much less than I originally paid for my laptop since I bought it from a third party.  Nine weeks later I finally supposedly got them to send me a replacement...  but I am still waiting on it.

I Just contacted customer service. They are sending me a third screen replacement.

after much research i found out lenovo has TWO current pannels:

00HM809 N Touch FHD w/ AG w/ Digitizer (19.4mm) Gunze
04X6474 N Touch FHD w/ AG w/ Digitizer (19.4mm) Jtouch - Primary

as far as I know they are both new.

The first two pannels i had sent to me were the "04X6474 N Touch FHD w/ AG w/ Digitizer (19.4mm) Jtouch - Primary"

The third they are sending me is the "00HM809 N Touch FHD w/ AG w/ Digitizer (19.4mm) Gunze"

hopefully we have a winner with the 00HM809 ... but im beginning to have doubts :(

i will keep every one posted.
