Thinkpad S531 (20B0) replacing WiFi card

As many owners of a Thinkpad S531, I am not very happy with the Wifi performance of the built in Intel Centrino N 2230, especially after upgrading to Windows 10 (x64). What I have done so far:

  • Turned of Bluetooth (Windows Connection center plus deactivating the device in the device manager
  • Turned of the option Computer can disable the device to save energy
  • Set maximal performance / energy in the Windows energy settings

If anybody knows more hints / tipps / tricks to get a better WiFi performance, I would appreciate to read about it.

From the WiFi environment, there is a strong AVM Fritz Box router (450Mbps on 2.4 and 1.300Mbps on 5.0) next to an extending repeater (300/867 Mbps). Honestly, none of the device is facing a WiFi connection problem (iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, several Laptops and Wifi enabled devices).

Could you, Lenovo support, provide me a list of compatible 2.4GHz/5GHz Wifi cards? If possible, a recommendation for a specific device would be great.

Is there any guide for replacing the WiFi card?

Thanks in advance.
