Thinkpad S540 - pre-boot delay and maybe related WIn10 upgrade problem

2017-01-10, 13:56 PM

My S540 takes quite a long time to start booting. The boot process in itself, once started, is fast as it should be, but before the lenovo logo and the spinning circle appears it takes 30 seconds where the screen is on but black (only the background light is on).

this problem is OS independent, it was the same when windows 7 was installed, right now win 10, the original build, is installed.

Maybe related: I cannot upgrade to win 10 anniversary. After the reboot which should start the upgrade, the notebook is in the state described above for around 2 minutes and then shows the blue troubleshooting page. when you click "continue booting into windows 10" it does this without installing the anniversary update (win 10 1067).
