I have tried multiple time to install the Thinkpad BIOS UPdate - 7/8 [32,64]/8.1/10 .
I follow instructions to plug-in and close all programs.
The installing bars will not complete past 91%. There is a prompt that asks to pick Thinkpad or Model Number. When I click Thinkpad and NEXT the computer SHUTS DOWN immediately (right after warning not to shut down or damage may occur). The computer screen goes black and 3 ominous beeps repeated 3 or 4 times sound. When I restart my computer nothing has updated.
I am unable to complete the Critical Update after trying 4 or 5 times. (Tried downloading and deferring install and the same thing occurred.)
(In tandem, I'm getting numerous STOPCODE errors from Microsoft after updating with the Fall Creators update. Not sure if it's related. I've had a variety of problems since the Fall Creators update and was hoping the BIOS update might clear things up.)

I am using Lenovo Apps. Both the Lenovo Vantage App and the Lenovo System Update app prompt this download.
Looking on the Lenovo Support site it looks to be this link:
Titled: BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10

Boot into the BIOS and tell me what version is there now.

I don't know. Does the rest of the info on the BIOS screen look OK? (model, serial, UUID)??
