Thinkpad Yoga 14: USB remains powered in standby (S3) despite Bios setting

Hi

In the Bios, I set "Always On USB" to disabled. According to the description, this should "disable USB ports during low power states [standby, hibernate or power-off]." Contrary to this description, all USB ports remain powered during standby (S3, Suspend-to-Ram). I tried with USB ports on both sides of the device.

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Re: Thinkpad Yoga 14: USB remains powered in standby (S3) despite Bios setting

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I have a TP Yoga 14 (20DM008UUS) but I haven't tried to disable that feature on the BIOS yet.

I found it ok if the USB is powered is on standby, hibernate or power-off, but only if the computer is plugged to the power supply. Maybe that can be bad if you have an optical mouse or something plugged on the USB that emitts light in the middle of the night in the same room your are sleeping.

But if it is not plugged to to the power supply the USB should not give power if that options is disables on the BIOS.  I will give it a try disabling that on the BIOS.

Re: Thinkpad Yoga 14: USB remains powered in standby (S3) despite Bios setting

Hi

I just tried it out on my TP Yoga 14 (20DM008UUS).

With "Always On USB" on the BIOS it will give me power on the three USB ports, even if it shutdown, sleep or hibernated, no matter if it is plugged to the power or not.

Without ""Always On USB" on the BIOS, if it is shut down or hibernate (with or without power) it will not give me power on the USB. But "sleep" is maintaining USB power on the three ports.

It it doing the same for your?

Yes, exactly.

And I'd really want it to turn off the USB ports :\
