I have been in touch with Digital River (totally useless), IBM, and local retailers about this issue - Now I am asking here to perhaps finally get some clarity from Lenovo for why this situation exists.
Basically here in Switzerland you have two options for getting a Thinkpad Yoga 260:
1. Buy it from Lenovo's online store (.ch) and forego your wish to have Mobile Broadband (LTE, 3G), but able to get 16GB RAM ... or ...
2. Buy it from a Swiss retailer with Mobile Broadband, but unable to get 16GB of RAM - you are stuck with 8GB of soldered-on RAM.
I have spoken with retailers and they are apparently sourcing their machines from suppliers who get them from outside the country, BUT, forwhatever reason, the suppliers cannot get their hands on any 16GB machines.
Lenovo in Germany sells the Thinkpad Yoga 260 with, yes ... WITH, Mobile Broadband, but Digital River will only ship to an address in Germany.
I cannot express in words how badly this SUCKS!!!
So here I am to ask Lenovo why, oh why, do I have to deal with this kind of crap?

I've been unable to find a Yoga 260 with the 16GB and WWAN on the German website, could you perhaps provide me with a link? All that I have been able to find are 8GB systems without WWAN which can be upgraded to 16GB or with 8GB and have WWAN but cannot be upgraded to 16GB.
Also in the PSREF it states against Memory; 16GB max / 2133MHz DDR4, one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket (None WWAN models), or 8GB 2133MHz DDR4 soldered to systemboard for WWAN models.
I found one preconfigured system with 16GB RAM in the PSREF, but this has no WWAN; 20FE001Q++

Wow, you are so right!
So do I have this right - if you want a Thinkpad Yoga 260 with WWAN you can only have a max of 8GB RAM!?
If this is so it's even worse than I initially thought. Why on earth would Lenovo do that!?
With Windows 10 8GB of RAM get's eaten up mighty fast. Very dissapointing.
But the original question of why is there no LTE version sold in Switzerland still stands.
